GIRL: Have we all gone mad looking for patterns? / CAT: This didn’t happen in the Sixties GIRL: Or is it essentially human - to give a close read to our primary texts - / CAT: We found one! It was paisley! GIRL: But it’s how we read - arguing about the story being told - GIRL: - instead of WHY it’s being told / CAT: We liked it so much we brought it back in the eighties! GIRL: Lost in the world of the text / GIRL: While who gets to TELL those stories goes unquestioned - who FUNDS them goes unseen - our means of discovery owned by fewer and fewer - richer and richer - people - until only one story remains. / [Cat watches Girl] / CAT: You never see a good paisley any more!
